there is a very strong relationship between the three components of the Air Force. Active Duty, Guard and Reserve units all receive the same training and share the same missions so that (in theory, not always in practice) any one mission can be carried out by any combination of the three components.

basic training and tech school are identical for active duty and guard/reserve, aside from some paperwork differences. the uniforms, ranks, and jobs are exactly the same.

ANG units actually have 2 commanders in chief: the president and the governor of the state that the ANG unit is in.

Well they do have the same Commander in Chief, they both salute the same flag, they both represent the Armed Forces of the USA. They both get funding from the same Government department. . . . . . .

Yes, they work together almost seamlessly on deployment.
