I get the idea you're more Muslim than Mexican.
If that's the case, then being a legal immigrant would mean you need to support Americans and not hate them.
It would mean you could help improve US-Muslim relations in your city-- and set a good example for others to see and follow. Coming to USA to live means you choose to be here. Demonstrate a willingness to assimilate by becoming a US Citizen.

It"s only them who can answer. you can not totally set aside the fatct that every country has a racial and cultural descrimination, besides their first priority are there own people. Unless otherwise excemption to the rules theres really a rigtheous immigrant who are capable and qualified to be recognize depending on what he/she contributed or done to the country where he was.then maybe that the time they'll own the credit of recognition.Legal Immigrant are actually recognizes in America but on a limited matters of rigths.

Imran, I would have to say most immigrants make me proud. Work hard, respect our laws and learn English --not just for our convenience, but because like it or not it's an English speaking country and the only common link in our multi-cultural population is the English language. I for one think our country is enriched by the contributions of immigrants to this country. Welcome to the USA!

In order for ANY legal immigrant to make America proud, they must become an American Citizen. They must learn English and speak it fluently. They must strive to improve themselves so they posess a job skill that makes them proud and America proud. They must pay taxes and obey laws as well as respect other Americans.
They must assimilate. They must PUT AMERICA FIRST.
If you do not become an American Citizen, you are merely a person who has no country while you live in somebody else's.

There are so many examples. Bob Hope, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Henry Kissinger, etc.
Basically, adopt this as your country, follow it's laws, be a patriot (the traditional definition, not George W's)

You're legal and pay taxes and are allowed by law to be here. That in itself makes me proud of you already

By working hard and doing the things you enjoy (that are legal he he) without holding any animosity towards those around you. Doing that would make you a better American than many naturally born citizens.

Assimilate. Immitation is the highest sign of respect.
(BTW: 'immigrant' /is/ politically correct. It is politically incorrect to include the legal distinction. Please, do carry on being politically incorrect!)

Assimilate, by doing the things Sjean has outlined, and honor the privilege of the status you have been given.
