Obviously, some have looked for God but did not find him...

and I assume many will say this is because they didn't seek properly....

What are the ways you are not supposed to look for God?

By doing nothing; keeping a closed mind. God - in any sense of the word - is found in everything beautiful and good in the world, you just hafta look.

And as far as those who haven't found it, it may just not be their time to. Or maybe they did and just never realized, like that Footprints story.

You're not supposed to look for God with a closed mind. One has to be willing to accept that there are things in the universe which cannot be explained logically.

Secondly, there should be a heart of humility.
Thirdly, one has to be able to read scripture or go to church, with a mind that this could indeed be God's word.

Pretty much any search is a waste of time. The chances of any god existing are far less than the chances you'll win all state lotteries simultaneously while being struck by lightning as Angelina Jolie begs you to have her love child.

Look for God within. Searching for god outside of self only leads to other peoples ideas about God. God speaks to each person from deep within. Get quiet then quiet your mind only then will you recognize the sacred.

The only way to find God is to look to the spirit within - literally. You don't have to go anywhere special to find God, save for maybe a quiet place. Because of God's omnipresence, he is everywhere. He is right here now.

Religion is the wrong way to search for God. Truth is not to be found in dogma. The proof of this is that there are many religions, all of which have their devotees, all of whom believe that their way is the only way. To accept any given tradition at its face value is to deny all others; and yet all have exactly the same claim to represent Truth.

First, stop personifying a deity and read sacred texts across cultures to understand what is at the core of all of them - the nature of being/reality, the relationship of mind/matter, the intersection of psychology and physics.

Why must there be a wrong way? The only ones that will tell you that you are looking in the "wrong way" would be the religious and the atheists.

The best way is to follow the evidence and to avoid blind faith or just follow the religion of parents blindly without doing good reasoning and study.
Best luck.
