Yes. I'm thinking of dreading my hair. I've got long straight blonde hair. Wondering on peoples opinions on dreads as a whole and possibly the best method of doing it?
I've already tried just neglecting my hair, it didn't work. And it was annoying.

Can I just add to all you haters out there, my brother has dreads.
He does not stink.
He does not have fleas.
He has many friends.
Thus proving that alot of you answering right now are pretty shallow minded in your opinion with people with dreads. You can wash them, infact its better to wash them.
Ok, I'm done.

Given most of the people on here think you shouldn't do it based on either their hobo mate's lack of hygiene, or how they think it will look on your f£$kin cartoon avatar, you should probably go for it
Don't take up fire breathing or living in a teepee though...

Dreads only look good for a few days, after that they start to frizz and look dirty. Dreads can never be cleaned that well either, Thee hair gets stinky and people can smell it in an elevator and standing next to you. I would just cut it real short as to humiliate myself like that.

No offense to anyone that has them or you for choosing to do this but...
I work with a person that has dreads and they stink. The odor that comes from ones hair is disgusting and I can't even imagine the type of critters crawling in there.
If you choose to do this good luck.

I have dreads, but I am black and our hair is tightly curled so it is easier for them to form and style. i would say as long as ur hair has natural curl and easy to get uncomb-able dreads should look fine dreads would naturally take to that hair, but I wouldn't recommend it with straight hair unless, you want to wait up to a year for them to lock . That is a long time and you can't really style it after that like curly hair

Here's my idea....I'm from Colorado so I'm a fan of dreads...IF (and that's a BIG IF) they are taken care of! You CAN wash it...just buy special haircare products from head shops. I would look in a head shop in your local area or a hemp store. If you are having questions about whether or not to do it at all, just dread one piece of hair and see if you like it!

Stop washing it and twist the strands. Eventually the accumulated grease and dirt in your hair will make the strands stick and get matted. Always a great look. Make sure you stop shaving and using deodorant, too, for the full effect.

I love dreads and you can wash them after they are in my son has a friend who has them and when he showers he just washes them and then towel dries them and he is one hot dude. I love looking at him. I asked him once if he was of mixed race and he said, "No." but they looked so natural on him and so good I liked the look! Go for it! Go to a shop and have them help you and then they can teach you how to keep them up!

You would prolly get fleas, have an itchy head, lose all ur friends cuz u stink, then u could end up hating them, and when u get it cut it will look terrible.
