Just as they ignore how a life has ended, they also ignore how short theirs also is.
‘ Hearing you will hear and shall not understand,
And seeing you will see and not perceive;
15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull.
Their ears are hard of hearing,
And their eyes they have closed,
Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears,
Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,
So that I should[a]heal them.’[b]
(it's like lights are on, but nobody's home). They choose out of their own spirit to ignore what God is showing them, so they think of other things and choose to ignore the message.

Just who teaches you people that we are all a bunch of wild disrectful uncaring *******? Non-believers bury their dead too you know. We can love free of religious restriction. At a funeral we show respect for the dead and the living left behind. We do NOT as your pastor may have told you, burn a pentagram on the coffin and dance naked in the grave hole. Ah ignorance...good to see it flourish so.
You got what you were after with your rude question, what's your problem with the rude answers...does not the book you live by say it's ok to take an eye for an eye? A lie for a lie or was that a stupid response to a stupid question? Either way it's what you asked for.

I sit quietly during prayer but don't bow my head. When people talk of the dead at the funeral I just listen to them. You may not know this but funerals aren't exactly the place to debate religion or the afterlife it is a time of respect for the ones that have passed.

Most I know out of respect just bow there head anyways. There should be no drama at a funeral and most of the non believers I know would never think to cause any out of respect for the person they knew.

Just sit there and look around.
Of course, I messed up the procession at my grandmother's funeral when our row was supposed to go up and get the cracker and a drink, I didn't know what to do so eventually I stepped out of the way for the row to go. Talk about a lost little kitten...

Think respectfully of the deceased and plan what they can do to help the family in a time of crisis.
What is my reaction to remarks about the dead in heaven with God? Tolerance. I tolerate your beliefs in spite of your ignorance in imposing them on others.

I sit quietly. Just because I don't believe your version of god does not mean I can't show respect.

We just experience the same emotions and love that everyone else is feeling.
During prayer, I usually just respectfully bow my head like everyone else, then wait for it to be over. Other times, if it seems like it'll be a while, I do metta bhavana meditation. (cultivation of loving kindness)

I think about the good times I had with the deceased. They are welcome to pray, I don't have a problem with it.... but I just think about my friend or loved one.
EDIT: You received an abundance of polite, on-topic answers yet you only single out the few rude answers you got. Typical.

I keep my opinion to myself--if it comforts them, they are welcome to believe whatever they want.
When I am present during someone else's prayer (which happens to me A LOT), I tend to meditate on how I can become a better person--at a funeral, I remember someone's life and would try to incorporate some of their good qualities in myself and remember that life is short, so enjoy it; if someone's sick, I try to think if there is something I could do to let them know I care, etc.
