Catholic Ctusader---I generally agree with you but--Fox? They were the worst on their news coverage of the Pope's death. Every dyke ex-nun they came across they dragged on there to explain "what was wrong with the Catholic Church"

WAY too much. The fact that you made a million dollars pretending to be someone else does not make you an expert on biological ethics or foreign affairs.

We pay them to be pretty, not to think.

I don't think it has as big of a sway as some people suspect. People have usually made up their mind one way or another on issues like this. Both sides always have the cue-card lines and counter-arguments we've heard a million times. Movies largely appeal to the decisions certain people have already made.

I think people are more swayed by their attachment to other unrelated issues. For example, people who feel strongly about topics A and B in one political party often get persuaded to support C too even if they otherwise wouldn't have.

EDIT: Actually Sophia brings up a great point: the fact that people don't really question the credentials of a celebrity who ends up being a spokesperson for some cause.

That depends on the person and the celebrity. Teen are sometimes more easily swayed by fame. Adults usually look toward celeb opinions that, over time, they have agreed with many times and respect. IMO

Hollywood has a lot of influence on people who identify with the stars and feel that they "must be right". As an example, in the old classic, Inherit the Wind, people sided with Spencer Tracy and his supporters because he was likable, not because he was right.

Too much. They need to be censored very badly. Legislators have passed probably millions of laws since things were perfectly all right; many contrary to the commandments of God. Not a good idea.

In terms of people forming opinions that mirror Hollywood's? not much.

Hollywood's main strength is drawing and sometimes maintaining attention to certain issues/causes, rather than crafting opinions on policy.

Everyone knows of Darfur and Tibet, for instance - but gay marriage still lacks majority support.

Too much: The same goes for the leftist news media (except for FOX)
