Below listed values are based on a percentage of Original Finish and Overall condition of the Firearm listed. Normal age and wear is considered in these reflected values.

90% Condition $525
80% " $455
70% " $355
60% " $300

Above listed values are current for October 2007, and are based on current market values on this firearm.

Please Note* With the sale of Winchester Repeating Arms Company, an automatic increase in value of all Winchester Firearms is anticipated and already being reflected in values. Despite the fact that your Shotgun has little of the Original finish, and it's value is reduced somewhat, this gun is still a highly prized Collectors item and will only increase in value. Do not attempt to refinish this Shotgun, as it will only negatively affect it's worth. If this is a family heirloom I would suggest you keep it and not sell it.

Winchester Model 1897 Value

I too have a Winchester 1897 16ga. that I am looking to sell. The 1897 has quite a history!

Anyway, you can check the serial number on the internet to see what year it was manufactured. The one I have is a take down model and has a lot of the original finish worn away. It's probably at about 40%. The serial numbers are different on the receiver and barrel, so the barrel is from a different gun. However, both were manufactured in 1907. It looks like mine is worth aroung $475 to $500, but I am not an appraiser.

"100% condition could be worth around $850. Values drop off drastically as the per-cent condition drops. For example, the same
'97 in 80% condition has a value of about $450. Add 25% for 16 gauge."

If you sell it to an FFL dealer or pawn shop, about $ 125- 150, and they in turn will sell it for about $250.
