look up the history of the house- (i am asuming it is old)
Was it and 'old cart lodge' or something like that

look on the deeds to see who the first person who lived in it was - did they have an interesting surname like 'honeybell'. If their name is boring or sound odd for a house what was the persons occupation (should also be in the deeds) maybe they worked as miner 'miner's cottage' or blacksmith etc

What materials is the house made from 'Chalk Cottage' 'Flint House' etc.

Is there a distinctive tree 'Holly house/cottage'

What time of year was it when it was built/when you moved in 'May Cottage' 'Christmas Cottage' 'Easter House'

Or you could grow lots of your favourite flowers in the garden or in window boxes and name it after that.

I think its a lovely idea naming your house, houses have character and when we make them into 'homes' they have a soul because you put your creativity and love into them - corny i know!

I have seen some houses called 'a fresh start' yuck! or where the owners have gathered the initials of everyone in the house and made a silly word up with them - yuck! other mistakes are when a modern property like a bungalow is called 'lodge cottage' thats just silly! one was llamedos (read backwards its sod-em-all...bleughhh!)
