Remove the virus first with a good anti virus software, installing a firewall is not going to help.

Firewalls cannot remove a virus or any other form of malware.

I would Run both of these on-line scans. Both are free and excellent at detecting and removing malware free of charge. There is no need to un-install any of your current protections before using these.

1. Scan for virus, worms, dialers, etc. and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with BitDefender's Online Scanner
http://www.bitdefender.com/

2. Scan for trojans, adware, cookies, and spyware and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with Ewido Online Scanner ( now known as AVG Anti-Spyware). This is NOT the same as AVG Anti-Virus.
http://www.ewido.net/en/

These scans will take quite a bit of time. The time is necessary to clean-up an infected computer.

Good luck.

You can try booting into safe mode to install the firewall program. When the computer is booting hit the F8 key to get into safe mode.
Also, have an AV program, that is up to date, to try and delete the virus. Some viruses are so bad the easiest way to get rid of them is in safe mode.

In addition: some viruses can even pervent anti-virus software from being installed. You'll have to go in manually.

ctrl+alt+delete; task manager processes. Learn them, remember them, google them. The way to kill a virus faster than anti-virus can even discover it.

Hijack this:

These logs may not mean much to you, but if you post them to popular computer forums they can recognize if there's something in there that doesn't belong. You can also google results yourself.

Kill the process if you find it. Try to remove it. Can't remove it? Safe mode and delete. That takes care of 95% of all viruses and spyware.

try runnign the setup file in safe mode.

to get to safe mode:

restart computer and tap F8 at the intial boot screen

select safe mode

Some programs however cannot be installed from safe mode because they require the microsoft install services to be running. However, most anti virus and anti spyware prorgams use there own install tool so they can be installed from safe mode.

Hope It Helps!!!

danielle

shut down your computer completly.
restart the computer is Safe mode
Once in SAFE MODE scan your computer for viruses.
Once this is complete and you follow the instructions given to you by the virus scanner...then shut down completely again, and restart normally.

this should do it.

good luck :)
