Admitting you are a sinner greatly offends human pride. People are not aware of this pride in themselves, , but feel hurt and react almost unconsciously spurning the christian message and regarding it as foolishness. According to the New Testament Satan actually takes steps to keep people blinded to the message. It takes the grace of God, and the work of the Holy Spirit to open their eyes to see the message.

the christian god, according to christians, has the ability to do anything and everything. yet the god "chooses" not to make itself known to the people of the world.
granted, christians will say that their god did "show himself" to the world in the form of jesus. one of the doubts i have with that is that the god supposedly sent jesus down during a time when hardly anyone thought to write it all down, much less videotape the "miracles" that jesus did.
now that we have better forms of evidence-making equipment, it would be nice, if the christian god is real, to prove itself real by coming back down and doing more miracles for us, so we can get it caught on video.
is that too much to ask?

I believe in God and Jesus but not the way Christians do. I'm still sane and wish to stay that way.

The difficulty lies, in many cases, in the fact that the more these two subjects are researched, the less validity belief in them holds.
Additionally, the Scriptures are copies of copies of copies where mistakes and deliberate changes were made throughut the centuries. The current existing documents are, in and of themselves, unrelieable sources of information.

Perhaps we are just a bit more sensible. Believing in invisible creatures is a little childish to say the least.

there are all kinds of religions that want to proclaim that they represent god(s) etc, I can't find any real reason to believe any of them
I'm not saying that god does not exist, just that I have never found any reason to believe he/she/it does

Because I don't believe in fairy tales. Read the bible. You'll know why. It has more fantasy in it than a Piers Anthony novel.
