Most of the time its a Miss as you can see by what other members have said.

Not all will work with Vista but most of them do by updating the games to the latest patch version Trust me i am using Vista Home Premium 64bit and many games that shouldn't work do and that goes for applications too! What you will find though is that there is a slight performance decrease of about 10 to 20% between Vista and XP as Vista takes a more powerful system to make it run nice! Oh yeah and it can run Direct X 9 games just fine and is backwards compatible it does not require that you have a direct X 10 card but it does make it look better my friend is currently using a geforce 7950gt and it's running perfectly! And that's a DX 9 card!

Definitely not!

Stick with XP if you are a gamer. Major compatibility issues with Vista. Vista requires DirectX V10. Most games that currently run on XP require V9 and Vista is not backward compatible.

I am a Windows Vista Beta Tester and 77% of the applications (including games) that I tested had major performance problems -- if they would even run at all.

I never upgrade to a new OS until at least the first Service Pack has been released.

No!
Many of the games bought for XP or below, just do not work on Vista - it does depend on the age of the games newer ones might , but we like the oldies as they are often the goodies!! Anyway we do not have the money to keep replacing games just becasue a new OS comes out!!

But help is available if you are at all computor able as you can dual boot Vista and XP -see below

I have just spent a boring hour or two setting up my daughters Vista laptop to dual boot Vista and XP ( because most of her games will only play in XP or below - tried all the patches, the compatability in Vista etc as suggested above but some just do not play, especially the older ones)

It is not too difficult to do however - just go here: http://apcmag.com/5485/dualbooting_vista_and_xp

This is for instructions to install XP on a vista OS computer so you can dual book to either Vista or XP so you can play the games that do not work in Vista in XP
or you can try theses instructions also: http://www.syschat.com/dual-boot-vista-xp-vista-already-1946.html
But I found the first instuctions worked better for the setup on my daughters machine.

Or if you have XP and want to install vista to dual boot go here: http://www.syschat.com/how-dual-boot-windows-xp-vista-1818.html

The other way for some games to work under Vista is to use 'ScummVM' - link below
This is used for classic older games like...................
'Some of the adventures ScummVM supports include Adventure Soft's Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Revolution's Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; Wyrmkeep's Inherit the Earth; Coktel Vision's Gobliiins; Westwood Studios' The Legend of Kyrandia and games based on LucasArts' SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system such as Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more'

I hope this helps

Alexander -
I have Vista and everything I used to use...now works well with Vista.
I also have no probems with Vista, as many indicate.

If you do attempt to play a game or run software that does not react well to Vista...then go to that companies website and download the current Vista Fix (most have them now).

good luck :)

Well i seem to have got all of mine to work, if they do not work with vista try right clicking the icon, properties then compatibility and choose windows xp with sp2. That should make it work.
