Back when he was a very little one, he was at the track and Darrell Waltrip started calling him junebug due to his lack of size, it stuck and he is still junebug

According to multiple websites his dad gave it too him.

Seriously, we had a dog at work whos owner would bring it in every day to the shop, its name was Junior. We called it June, junebug, junester, Jr....you name it.

Its something his dad gave him when he was little, DW calls him that all the time, I've heard Tony Jr and his spotter call him that as well...

His dad initiated it, I heard used for the first time this year by DW.

Because he was born in June and as a child had a bad habit of eating bugs. Still does I hear.....lol
KIDDING! Great googly moogly I almost got attacked by the JR nation....lol
Anyway. My Aunts second cousin had a friend in school who was the sisters friend of a guy that was married to a lady whose brother cut Dale Srs grass one time who heard his dad call him that once and it stuck.

I think he got that one from Darrell Waltrip. DW would see him at the track when he was a small boy and that's what he called him.
