The short response is that is depends on the person questioned and what their values are.

If you are a parent of a child that has a rare disease, with no current cure, a scientist may have more value to you than a Saint. On the other hand, in matters of faith, a person may call on a Saint to protect the child.

If you are either a Saint or a Scientist - and answer from this perspective, it is possible that the Scientist may point to the Saint as having the higher value. Similarly the Saint may point at the Scientist as having more value. It is also possible that each would claim his or her own value as of highest value. (The chance that a Saint would do that though seem slim.) Saints are often chosen as a matter of a selfless act or dedication to a value. Just to add a bit more, although the list of Saints is long... the list of scientists continually grows.

In conclusion, the value of anything is with the person with the observation and need.

If you ask this question as a direction for your own life, I am sure we all hope you contribute to the greater good.

Every individual whether a layman, sportsperson, scientist or a saint lead their own life. Only the watchers have the feelings of good or bad, useful or useless.

The life led by a saint and scientist are one at the same. Most of the scientists if you observe they lead a life of a saint.

Without science, you'd be sharing this message with everyone by writing it down on a piece of parchment and putting it in a bottle and tossing it in the ocean and hoping someone would find it.

Without saints, we wouldnt have stories like St. Columba who allegedly stopped the Loch Ness Monster in its tracks and prevented it from taking the life of a person - despite the fact that since that first reported sighting of the LNM, not one single person has ever reported being attacked, and in fact, the creature is alleged to be extremely shy, thus contradicting the FABRICATED story of St. Columba...

Yeah, Ill stick with scientists. The only lies about the lives of scientists that you will hear are ones such as Darwin recanting on his deathbed...

particular, yet its no longer a lot with regard to the reminiscence, or repute because it relatively is the repercussions. I as quickly as study some thing by utilising a certainty seeker, who became into being written approximately by utilising yet another certainty seeker, that inspired me to jot down some thing myself. It became into in common terms a sentence, basically attempt to think of or be conscious what which skill while it includes each and every thing ever executed in time.

You think that they are exclusive?

There are some that are both. But if I had to choose, I would choose saint. Perhaps not as preferable to the world, but preferable to me.

why not both? some persons are considered both saints and scientist. examples include st. thomas aquinas who is considered an early theologian and a pillar of human philosophy.

Who says you couldn't be both. Unless you are a 'mad scientist' of course. Devote yourself to God, and cure HIV/AIDS that would certainly do it.
Doesn't Jesus himself teach:
Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. -Matthew 7:7.

Scientist, since you can be that while alive.

Saints have to die to get the gig, and those who get it weren't always living fun lives beforehand.
