mmm i dnt know if it has something to do with ur software or how u saved the file
but i have a simple trick to fix that in no time
just hit Ctl + R to get the Replace window
in the Find box put the arrow
and in the replace spot type nothing or leave a blank space
then hit replace all .. that way all the arrows will go away

FORGET about my first response - I realize you aren't talking about change history markups but actually formatting marks.

This is easy! Just click on the button that is a paragraph symbol in the standard toolbar. The paragraph symbol looks like a backwards "P" with an extra vertical line.

What you are seeing are representations of "white" spaces....a dot for a space, and arrow for a tab, the paragragh symbol for new line, etc.

Clicking on that button will toggle this on and off. Sorry about my first answer.

It sounds like the option for showing formatting marks checked. This will let you "see" the spaces and tabs etc in your doc.

To get rid of them, from the main pull down menu, go to "tools" "options" and click the "View" tab. Uncheck the boxes in the formatting marks section.

Cheers!
