Friend,

Spirituality requires concentration. This dies not mean continued focus on a single thing or subject till you get headache.

Mind is like a monkey.Thoughts will be coming even without your notice and without your invitation. They will be, the thoughts , if you observe for a 5 minutes or so , most irrelevant ,unconnected and some times morbid too.We wonder do we really have such thoughts inside us?

So to avoid such unnecessary stuff which the mind is filled with meditation helps you.If you practise daily for 30 minutes as prescribed just observing your breath the thoughts intensity gradually reduces and finally mind becomes still. This is required for spirituality.
If you have already such state , or an alternate method to calm your mind and clean it this meditation is not a must. But for majority it HELPS CERTAINLY to speed up cleansing of mind and removal of these dirty stuff we without our knowledge allowed inside our mind.
So it is your status that determines whether you require it or not.

Meditation is a state of being.
We can be at meditation , and in that state, we experience spirituality (an experience beyond sensory perception).
Being eager to make this possible earlier, not leaving it to a chance happening, human beings, consciously, and also being equipped with that unique self-awareness, take efforts to create that possibility, and the practises, tools which takes us to such meditative states are also 'referred' to as meditation.
Yes, and so therefore, meditation is very important.

Let there be no confusion. the primary aim of meditation is spiritual evolution. Not surprisingly, such a lofty goal appeals only to the rare few.

The great Sages of India proclaimed that "meditation is a yogic practice aimed at self-realization and gaining greater ability to advance spiritually" not simply a practice to combat material stress and anxiety.

Meditation is your 'Natural state' and the goal of spirituality is to take you back to your 'natural state' the paradise that you had lost and which was always yours is being unfortunately ignored by you. Spirituality is your search for that lost treasure, and through meditation you can find it again.

in your quest for divinity you can take many routes. you can gain wisdom either through experiences that life has to offer to you or through meditation. the former is a longer route as compared to the latter.

moreover, only activity without meditation makes you restless and stressed out at times, and only meditation and less activity makes you lazy. so you ought to strike a right balance between the two.

to conclude, practise meditation if you want to go the air plane mode in the path of sprituality.

Meditation is being as you are, that is the essence of spirituality. it is acknowledged that the seeker already is the truth which is sought, so that there is no need to attempt any 'becoming' through meditation. The only need is for the spiritaul aspirant to realize that she or he was never bound, and to keep returning to that realization until it becomes steady and spontaneous. Be as you are.

Yes. But, it depends at what stage spiritual seeker is in his journey of pursuit. For each spiritual seeker, there are three stages of spiritual development in his life i.e Yogi(Man of action), Sanyasi(ascetic) and Jnani(Man of wisdom). Man by carrying out his day to day activities without expectation of any fruit of action ( Selfless action) and by extending selfless service to mankind by adhering to human values( Follow Truth, Righteouness, Peace, Love and Non-violence) is called a Yogi. Yogi by practicing gradully develops a sense of dispassion towards the world over a period of time. With this feeling of renounciation , yogi becomes a sanyasi. Then he becomes eligible for Meditation. Sanyasi by practicing meditation becomes A Gnani in fourth state of conditioned consciouness called Turiya.

Without getting dispassion towards the world, true meditation (single point) is not possible due to desires haunting the Man.

I think a healthy mind is important in spirituality, and meditation is basically mental exercise. Just like physical exercise, it is important that we do it in order for us to maintain our health.
