Yes, it can. There was recently a boy in Maryland who died when the infection from a rotten tooth spread into his brain.

It can make you very sick and depending on the infection and where it travels might actuallly be able to kill you, but that is in extreme cases.
That is why dentists will not pull a tooth that has an infection, because it can travel into the blood stream and then cause sepsis. Which is not good at all. You will need to get on some antibiotics first then have it pulled.
Good Luck!

How can you be sure it is rotten ? Is it Black ?
If your not in any pain, that means there is no infection. The infection is what can cause many other problems, such as poison going thru your system. A bad tooth infection can cause blindness.
Another words, no pain, no infection, not that big of a problem. You do want to eventually get that out of your mouth.

You've probably been carrying around an infection for a very long time. No, it most likely won't kill you but it may make your body sick. And your breath is probably suffering as well. Go get it taken care of.

YES, the infection can get into your blood and make you VERY VERY sick or even kill you. (like everyone has said so far)
You should get to the dentist ASAP. You will need to be put on antibiotics, then if the tooth is not salvageable, it will need to be extracted.

Before I found out I had a very treatable form of cancer I stopped brushing my teeth for awhile. I heard the 'C' word and thought I was going to be done. My sweet wife Makwa kept kissing me to sleep every night and showed no lack of passion. Eventually I told her what I had been thinking, thank God it wasn't true. Sometimes love overcomes/is blind/is very patient and compassionate. She is. EDIT: And thank god my teeth aren't rotting but they weren't very nice as part of the experience.
