I saw a blind taste test on a TV news show. Grey Goose, Absolut, Stoli and Smirnoff.

You should have seen the uppity yuppity testers they had- people who can EASILY afford to drink the best of anything they want.

Long story short- Smirnoff won. Grey Goose wasn't chosen as best by anyone- not even the people who swore beforehand that it was the best vodka in the world and they knew the flavor intimately.

Smirnoff is cheaper, and in a lower grade category. Although Grey Goose is an excellent vodka, Smirnoff wins all the way around. Both are smooth, however when you look at the price reduction and the history, I would always stay with Smirnoff. Plus, it mixes well, and that's important too for consumers.

Grey Goose taste better
Smirnoff is cheaper
I'd rather buy Smirnoff because they have the flavored vodkas. My favs are apple and blueberry.

They're the same. Grey Goose is only hyped up to be better. Smirnoff is much cheaper and just as good. You buy Grey Goose for bragging rights, but you're pretty much buying the same thing.

When you ask for taste are you really looking for taste or is it smoothness you want? For actual taste, stick with your russian vodkas. If you want smoothness, try Three Olives (this one is also good for taste), Skyy, Ivanabitch, Level, Effen, or Pravda.

Don't buy flavored vodkas either. That's a complete waste. If you want flavor, add it yourself. Unless you're interested in vodkas that are naturally flavored by infusion, such as Charbet.

I saw the same taste test that other person saw. It think it was on 20/20. All of the people who swore by Grey Goose didn't end up choosing it. I would personally buy Smirnoff. Always have.

if your doing a party id buy something cheaper than both. mccormicks is really cheap and it will get a lot of people feeling good. it comes in many different flavors. as for smooth vodka i'd chose grey goose. even though people are saying they cant tell the difference, i can and it makes you feel a different "drunkness". i never get hangovers so i wouldnt know which is better for that, sorry. smirnoff does have different flavors also. it is cheaper, but smirnoff burns my throat more. for a better tasting flavored cheap vodka, try UV vodka. just dont spill it on white, it will dye it.

If drinking neat (no mixer) or on the rocks, stick with Grey Goose. However GG is oily and I personally prefer Ketel One for straight up vodka (it's cheaper too).

But for parties and mixing drinks, Smirnoff is the way to go. It is a fine vodka and much easier on the pocket book.

Remember to always drink responsibly (I've always wanted to say that!)

Smirnoff for making mixed drinks Grey goose for drinking straight plain and simple. by mixing Grey goose in anything other than a martini is a waste of money in my opinion. save your money then buy 1 of each.

I saw a blind taste test where a huge number of people who usually drink Grey Goose chose it as the worst of the vodkas. I think Kettle One is the best out of the bunch - but I drink smirnoff because it is the most cost effective (and if you are mixing it, then you can't tell the difference most likely).
