Someone mentioned above that you could break the tooth. That is the worst danger because they tend to be hard to get a grip on. End-nippers grip best but also can easily cut the tooth off.

Best to have a friend help, with molars you can get under them but all the rest you need to get a grip.

The worst time I've had with an extraction was when I let a dentist do it. He cut up the inside of my mouth, left part of the root in my jaw and hit another tooth so hard with his jack handle that it developed an abscess. Then he double-billed my insurance. Found out later he and his family do drugs together.

Whoa! You may run into a little trouble trying that. If the teeth are decayed for fractured they're going to break off putting you in more pain and the pieces will need to be dug out. Are you swollen? Why aren't you going to a dentist? If insurance or $ is an issue your church probaly has a medical/dental ministry that can help you. Get some help will ya? God bless

Forget pliers, remember Tom Hank's character on Castaway when he knocked his tooth out with the blade of an ice skate?? Desperate times call for desperate measures.

On a serious note, I had a tooth pulled 5 years ago without the benefit of any pain killer. It hurt horribly as the dentist was pulling it and I screamed my lungs out, but as soon as he had the tooth out there was no pain. Just the sound of my sobbing, trying to regain what little dignity I had left!
