Local churches are the ones most involved in local charities. They are the one involved with Habit for Humanity and Red cross and Salvation Army. If you will contact these groups they will know where there is a church working at. Jump in and get involved, its a great way to meet people and to do something for someone who cannot repay you. Thats the greatest blessing.

Having the intention to be of service is the first step. Then chose an organization that resonates with your idea of helping the world.

You will find that you end up benefiting just as much or more than the people you help. Look for past project history, overhead cost, where the money goes, etc to get an overall feel; maybe talk to some of the existing volunteers.

The organizations i am involved with are iahv.org and artoflivingyouth.org

Call your local Department and Children Services, and ask for a list of non-profit organizations. Then call around and see which ones are accepting youth volunteer's. You can also check with the United Way, and you local animal shelter.

Call a local Charity and tell them you would like to help them with whatever they need and you would like to do.
