We are wasting our lives thinking about rewards and punishments. By rewards we generally mean the fulfilment's of our worldly desires. By punishments we generally mean deprivation of worldly matters such as wealth and fame and separation from our kin during deaths.
We should know that we are serving constant and relentless prison term being born again and again in the cycle of births and deaths. That is the punishment and we are always in that.
The reward is only one and that is when we stop judging the considerations of the material gratifications as rewards or punishments. That will lead us to the path of bliss. But we need a saint as Guru to guide us into that path.

Punish? Not exactly. Most of the punishment we attracted to ourselves by our wrongdoings. God allows us choose what is right and wrong and we have to face consequence, that's all. Life is like a school. The student receives the lesson, but he/she needs to show how much was learned through tests and quiz. If the student didn't learn the lesson, he fails and needs to do it again and again until the message gets across. That's our life. We have certain tests in life, but if we fail, we have to get it done over and over.
Reward? I think that the best reward is to be able to help those in need. No privileges, no best seat in the house kind of thing, no ticket to heaven, just the certainty that we will continue to progress and help others, that's the reward.
Peace!

This place was never meant for awards and rewards. If yes, then tell me what does an honest man get for all the sacrifices of desires and wishes that he and his family members have to make? People who choose the path of righteouseness never prosper like the ones busy in usurpation and other corrupt practices. when these honest people die, do their lives reflect that they were rewarded evenly for their moral values and righteous ways of living? similarly those who perpitrate crimes, are they always caught and put behind the bars? so many of them are roaming scot free owing to the power of their bank balances. When a man is murdered, the murderer may or may not get punnished, in either case, the family of the deceased has to bear a loss that cannot be compensated for. Things are worst if he was the only earning member of the family. when a girl gets raped, her loss of modesty and shame cannot be compensated for whether or not the rapist is punnished. Many may reason that the law and order of the country is there to protect. yeah, right, how much of it is honestly executed and effectively brought to light is not a secret. SO. what does this mean? People can move the see-saw of rights and wrongs whichever way the feel, do whatever they want and once you are dead the matter is over? No, this seems utterly unfair and unacceptable to human intelligence and conscience. A person has this innate & basic sense of right and wrong even at an age when he is incapable of understanding a doctrine as complex as religion. This only goes to prove that this place is meat to perform but results are elsewhere. We are pulled into the concept of that one day when ALLAH, ALMIGHTY will be the lawyer, witness and judge:- ALL in one. A criminal might manage to escape the clutches of law here, in this world, but will have no respite there. Punnishments and Rewards only make sense if they are longliving, which is not possible in this world. Punnishment in the name of HELL FIRE and Rewards in the name of HEAVEN is waiting with open arms for all those who think they have got lives to make merry at the cost of others and spend it defying and denying that ONE GOD, THAT CREATOR.

Yes...and He is very patient. He would never give us more than we can hold(punishment or reward). He is our Father and when He punishes us is for helping us understand when we go wrong. Rewards? Every single moment of our lives, because life is a gift.

Yes the Lord does reward and punish us. More correct term would be discipline.
We also receive different rewards (could be called fruits).
Read "Secrets of The Vine" by Bruce Wilkinson. It helps us know how to be fruitful.
God bless :)

yes he does punish or reward ur according to our deeds and the way we lived. this only happen after death when the soul is judged. like today in court, Lord will punish us or reward us at the final judgement. he punshes us by banishing us to hell forever still with his heart withering away with the pain of loosing one of his child. he rewards us by letting us into the heaven to live with Lord in peace, love and harmony.
in my point of view, this is the punishment and reward that god has kept for us.

I am sure God has punished but not like people think, what we go through is the consequences of our own actions, he just lets it happen to help us learn and grow and become stronger. I know people will object to this thinking and have all kinds of examples, but we live with the consequences of our own choices and we have to live with the consequences of choices others made that affect us. Natural disasters are more or less the evolving of the earth and it also has been affected by choices we made. We are subject to 2 things in this life the fact that it is a fallen world where evil does exist along with death and decay and the fact that we have free will and are under the consequences of not just ours but others as well.

It happens to me all of the time. Rewards or blessings if you will, happen daily. Likewise, when I make mistakes I can see how that was not in my best interests and I have faced dire consequences, which could be seen as a "punishment."
