One day the Great Spirit collected swirls of dust from the four directions in order to create the Comanche people. These people formed from the earth had the strength of mighty storms. Unfortunately, a shape-shifting demon was also created and began to torment the people. The Great Spirit cast the demon into a bottomless pit. To seek revenge the demon took refuge in the fangs and stingers of poisonous creatures and continues to harm people every chance it gets.

It's one thing to note that other cultures have creation and flood stories but another to to actually compare them for similarities and differences. For example many cultures have the flood wiping out the world with no survivors, some have 2 or more floods some have boats and others don't. Essentially, saying that there are common flood stories and proving that the came from the same global event are two remarkably different things.

I don't think it's silly per say because I wasn't there at the creation event. I do find it interesting though that nearly all ancient tribes have a creation/flood account in their folklore. Remember it it's all about your prespective on the subject. Would the indians at the time say you are silly for believing that in the beginning there was an infinately dense spec that contained all the matter in the universe and then exploded into the amazing order of the cosmos? Sounds like a candidate to me.

the literal interpretation of the creation story is an oversimplification. There are meanings within Genesis that go way beyond how the human race came into existence. It has to do with the development of consciousness and intentional though.

Unfortunately, many fundies aren't interested in, nor capable of, understanding the TRUE meaning of scripture. They'd just rather fight over it.

There is great beauty in that story, that is, if its truly from the Comanche people. There is great beauty in the biblical creation story, too. Both are very lyrical and poetic.

I find nothing silly about either story.

With regards and respects

Yes is silly becuase the content is contradictory to the Bible.
God never create demons, is not in the Bible. Demons are those who try to PERVERT (again not create) God's action. Demons are the fallen angels who CHOSE to be what they are. BUT they were created beings by God to begin with, but not the perversions that are now associated with them.

Perversion is the undoing of the righteous act.

I do not think it is silly. People since the beginning of time has thought that there was a Creator. People have always contemplated Him. I am glad that I know who the Creator is.

Yes it is silly. The book of Genesis clearly states who created the heavens and the earth. Anyone who puts trust and faith in what man says about how the earth and heavens were created are just deceiving themselves. So, yes, that crazy story you posted is plain nutsy. I surely don't believe that whatsoever. The sad part is that people are so gullible and naive to believe what man says over what God says in His word. For example, people that believe the earth came about by the 'big bang theory' are outright ignorant to how the world really came about. People forget that man is fallible and is sinful - God is neither. He is infallible; without sin, so whatever God says is the truth.

I am a Christian. This story appears to be similar to ours but a little different. I do not think it is silly.

Christian missionaries have had much success introducing Christianity to cultures through stories like these.

Perhaps there many truths in that story. Who knows. I find it interesting that it is similar to the Jewish account.

what a beautiful story and interpetation on creation. the native american people had such a deep abiding faith that still lives today. but is it any more silly than the adam and eve story that christians still cling to as dogma? but to each his own as long as you have a god or great spirit to worship and have faith in whats the difference? i really dont think that the almighty father will differentiate when it comes to judgement day? as long as you were the best person you could possibly be and that you treated your fellow man as you would have them treat you, youre gonna be ok.
