you could check it yourself by next time you fill up the tank write down the mileage and keep it in a safe place and then the next time after that you fill up write down the mileage again. subtract your first mileage reading from your 2nd mileage reading which will tell you how many miles you drove , then divide the number of miles you drove by how many gallons of gas you put in on your 2nd fill up and you will know how many miles per gallon your car gets

Wait until your gas tank is nearly empty. Then either zero the trip odometer or write down the mileage when you fill the tank to the absolute brink. Then drive until you are pretty low on gas again. Mark down how many miles you've driven and re-fill the tank right to the brink again. Now you have the amount of gas used and the mileage you drove. Simple divide the miles by the gallon or the kilometers by the liter.

Just write down the mileage on your car every time you fill up the gas tank. Then you will know how many miles you drove between fill-ups and how much gas was used for the given number of miles and you can then divide gallons of gas used by miles driven to get miles per gallon.

best way to find out what you are getting in an old car is
1) go to gas station and fill tank full
2) write down current millage
3) drive car
4) when you fill car up next time write down how many gallons you put in car
5) write down millage when you fill up
find out how many miles you drove the divide by gallons
ie. drove 150 miles put 10 gallons in car, you get 15 miles per gallon 150/10= 15
orignal est millage will be different that now

It's really easy to check it yourself. Next time you fill up your gastank, run the car until the tank is nearly dry. Reset your trip odometer, and then fill up the car. At the end of your tank of gas, check the trip odometer and see how many miles you get per tank of gas. If you want to figure out how many miles per gallon you get, just divide that number by the number of gallons your gas tank can hold.
