If what you have is dry scalp, a dandruff shampoo will compound the problem by making your scalp dryer.
Try using an intense moisturizing shampoo instead. Give it a week or two your problem will be fixed.

I use Neutrogena's T-Gel. It contains coal tar, which is the best thing for treating dandruff, psoriasis, excema, etc. on the scalp. There is one catch. Coal tar stinks. What I usually do is wash my hair once with T-Gel, then I'll follow it with my regular shampoo and conditioner to help reduce the smell. I only use T-Gel every other time that I was my hair (only when I'm treating dandruff, that is). This is the only thing I've been able to find that really works on my shampoo. It's worth dealing with the smell for a week, as that's how long it usually takes to clear up my dandruff.

Moisturizing shampoo. If you can help it, try to avoid conditioner, because if you don't get it all rinsed out it can flake and look like dandruff.
Do you dye your hair? If so, you might want to give up for awhile, because the dandruff could also be from scalp irritation.. If not, then disregard this part. :o)

Wash your hair every day with a mild shampoo and follow with a white vinegar rinse and then cool water. Make sure you have thoroughly scrubbed your hair brush and comb too.
