it's a break for the teacher cause there's 1 less student to deal with, they know kids don't wanna be there well not all kids at least, and it's more to punish the parents..lol and a vacation for the child.

It's a break for the teachers because they don't have to deal with that disruptive student, but its punishment for the parents if they have a child that can't be left at home alone. And yeah, the kid is definitely glad to be at home.

I say put them in in-school suspension. I got sent there a few times when I was in high school. You had to sit in a cubicle all day and the open side faced the wall. And my teachers would send piles of work for me. And then when I went to lunch me and all the other kids in ISS had to go in all in a line like we were in prison and we would get picked on. So after about 3 trips to ISS I got the message to stop getting in trouble.

I never quite understood suspension either, except possibly as a means to get rid of disruptive kid.
It is also possible that this is being used a lot more because schools are not allowed to administer corporal punishment.
I guess they figure if the parents understand that their kid has been sent home for such bad behavior and are stuck with the kid at home for a while, they might do something about it.

Truth is, a lot of parents have never stepped up to the plate to actually function as parents to impart the necessary values to their children... respect, responsibility, morals and ethics. You can't be best friends with your kids... you have to be their parent.

The parents who leave the parenting to the school system and the kids' peers, will indeed get reap what they sow. They will spend more time hauling the kids to rehab clinics, bailing them out of jail, and probably supporting the little rats into their 30s.

it's more punishment for the parents if you ask me and a vacation for the teachers. luckily, many schools now give in house suspensions and/or saturday school.

I completely agree! If it ever happens to my kids they will be cleaning the bathroom with their toothbrush along with other chores. Their "time off" won't be fun, they will be happy to go back to school.

I personally have never been suspended, nor have any of my children. But it certainly sounds like a reward for bad behaviour to me.
