I have seen on many ocassions some christians claiming that catholics are not christian.
This is of course ridiculous as catholics are by far and away the largest single denomination within the christian church.
My question is why do they say this?
Could it be purely because they are jealous of the power and wealth that the catholic church has or maybe it's the number of members?
Your thoughts please.

because some people think that their way is the only way.

it doesn't make sense at all. catholics, baptists, methodists, and on and on...they are all christian.

some people wallow in their ignorance and seem happy to do so...when they could do a little research and find out for themselves.

just one of the many things i don't understand.

............It's ignorance that is just passed down...from family to family...and then turns to a form of prejudice.

I'm always amazed when a member of a certain faith figures out the disception and has the strength to break off (such as the Mormon rape case).

I really don't understand how illiterate they are.......and yet shout out remarks about traditions "not in the Bible".

Do they ever research anything except the Bible?
They already pick and choose verses.
They lack the interpretation of the Bible.

The idea that all revealed truth is to be found in "66 books" is not only not in Scripture, it is contradicted by Scripture.

Our Lord founded a Church (Matthew 16:18-19), not a book, which was to be the pillar and ground of Truth (1 Timothy 3:15).

We can know what this Church teaches by looking not only at Sacred Scripture, but into History and by reading what the earliest Christians have written, what those who've sat on the Chair of Peter have spoken consistently with Scripture and Tradition, and what they've solemnly defined.

To believe that the Bible is our only source of Christian Truth is unbiblical and illogical.

I don't know that it is 'jealousy.'
The problems between Catholic and non Catholics stem from the beginning of the Church (big C ~ meaning fellow believer in Christ)
Part of the problem is the way everyone lumps all Christianity into Catholism and Catholic doctrine. Many non-Catholic Christians also believe that Catholics worship the Pope (consider how they talk about him - and that he is called the Holy Father)
Personally, I think the Catholic and non-Catholic Christians should stop fighting one another and find the common ground that is Jesus Christ.

Never heard of Orthodox being jealous. Our culture is each bit as wealthy because the Roman variation. And Orthodoxy has remained trustworthy to the lessons of the Apostles (simply notion I'd throw that during). Blessings. /Orthodox

Ignorance of what the Catholic Church actually teaches
Laziness of not findng out the truth about the Catholic Church
Stubborness of admitting they were wrong and a catholic was right

They have been lied to so many times, that the lie has become their truth and they cannot accept the truth.

Many Catholics are Christians. Not because they have the largest single denomination but because they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and their Savior. I am not jealous of this. I am happy.

FYI. Jesus' church is the PEOPLE who belong to Him. Not a religion or a denomination and not by power or wealth. I can see that you do not understand what Christianity is.

Only God knows the motives of a person's heart (soul) when they do something. I don't claim that "catholics are not Christians" I don' t think the Catholic doctrine is entirely biblical and I do think there are many many Catholics who did find Jesus because they had a sincere heart to find him and he overlooked their doctrinal mistakes just like he does for us all. Christianity is not about "teams" like in football or baseball and the best side wins.........Christianity is about lifting up the name of Jesus, our saviour and Lord. He is the head of the "church" which is the entire body of Christ.

I do not think they are jealous, but I could be wrong. I have many Catholic friends and I think they are Christian.

I don't know why they say that, because the Catholic church is the original Christian church. I'm Mormon and even I know that.

Yes. They either know or at least intuit that the Catholic church has the truth that they lack and this frightens them.
