Lots of flowers can have a more masculine appearance, depending on how you place them. Start w/a very simple cylindrical vase, heavy glass, clear....Proteus, callas (dark, preferably), cockscomb, berry/pod stalks, roses and tulips w/strong, non-traditional colors - fill w/strong, waxy leaves, curly willow branches (no baby's breath, please), and no ribbons or bows....that goes for any arrangement.
Any of these work well as stand alone's, too -no need to have a million things going on.

Black tulips (Queen of the Night) are quite masculine. Simple, dark and striking.
I love them. I don't like flowers that are frilly and pink, but prefer more structural like tulips, lilies etc.
