The content of the bible would get a movie a rating of R and children would not be allowed to see it.
If it was a CD with this type of content, it would be required to be labeled as violent and sexually explicit and children would not be allowed to buy it.
All of these labels are intended to keep content like this away from children and yet they force children to read this violent and sexually explicit text at a very young impressionable age.

Where I went to church as a kid there were no "childrens" bibles.
They believed that watering down the bible would be against god.
Children are forced to read this stuff.

Docoon - Name one newspaper that orders people to kill for not obeying some rule.
The bible is rife with this garbage.

Absolutely! I'm sure if it were a movie, Christian organizations would be up in arms trying to ban it. With all the incidents of incest ( see JOB).
Sadomasochistic corprophilia: (Isaiah 36:12, Ezekiel 4:12-15).
Cannibalism by order of God: (2 Kings 6:25-29) (Jeremiah 19:9).
Infanticide: (Matthew 10:21-22) (Deuteronomy 13:6-10) (Exodus 21:17).
Self mutilation: (Matthew 5:29-30; see also Matthew 18:8-9; Mark 9:43-48).
Rape: (Deuteronomy 20:13-14)
And even murder: (Exodus 22:18) (Numbers 3:38) (Deuteronomy 22:23-24)

If it does, then the same label would need to be placed on your daily newspaper and the local TV news. Like the Bible, they report when bad things like rapes, murders and ward happen.
Even in todays society, which is much more "peaceful" then any other period in human history, rapes and murders still happen on a daily basis. People need to know how to deal with those when they do. So the Bible does not sugar-coat its history. It records that rapes, murders and other crimes happened even to the people in the Bible.
But it also shows the penalty of those crimes - such as how David lost first his infant son, then his oldest son, and even for a time his throne because of his affair with another man's wife. In a culture where half of all families are falling apart - and usually because of adultery - a child should be taught how destructive it is. Same with the other sins recorded in scripture.
Not all the material of the Bible is appropriate for every one of every age. For example, as I have no living parents the parts about honoring father and mother and obeying parents is inappropriate for my stage in life. I don't need to be taught that at my age. There are also parts of the Bible that are not intended for children. That is why churches use wisdom to teach the right parts to people of the right ages.
If you actually take the time to read the Bible, you will find that its contant is frank and factual about the sins of mankind. But it is never presented in a manner that is intended to arouse sexual passions or glorify violence or gore. Rather rape and murder are presented as evil and to be turned from. A message that too many people need to hear.

Well you said the best one yourself: practice. You could use a dildo or banana for instance if you don't want to practice on anyone else. Sometimes a little lubrication in the form of extra virgin olive oil or peanut oil perhaps will help. You might also try lozenges for sore throats or coughing to help desensitize the area. Nothing beats the practice though.

Ever heard of a Children's Bible?
When ever someone claims how disgusting or violent, or unjust the Bible is, I snicker. The Bible is a book of God. Which lists things we SHOULD do, and also includes things we SHOULD NOT do. If someone cannot make out the difference, then they aren't trying hard enough.

The old testament would get an (R) rating.
The new testament would probably get a (PG13) rating.
But the Bible would NOT get a (Based on a True Story) label. In fact I would have to give the Bible a new label (Warning: Not based on actual events)

Those spouting "children's bible" don't realize that many children's bibles still leave in some wonderful details. Like Lot trying to give his virgin daughter to the mob so she could be raped to save some guests. Or the slaying of ____ites. Wonderful pictures, too.

"History" is full of violence and the Bible is full of history. The Bible is for all ages. I don't know anyone who has ever "forced" anyone much less a child to read the Bible. The content of the Bible is inspired by God Almighty, so think again.

It should be banned, since everyone knows that the best way to get people to actually read a book is to tell them they aren't allowed to.

on the contrary~ there are more 'instances' of love than violence in the Bible and unlike 'Saw III' there is a moral lesson taught that the 'impressionable' child and adults alike can learn from.

Shouldn't the koran have the same label? The Bible teaches love and the true nature of the human heart(Jer 17:9), koran teaches hate and violence...maybe you need to see a muslim hack off someones head for his false god allah.
