Oh i'm sooooo sorry Maeve S, i didn't realise that, oh thats right, I didn't have a computer when i was 13, nor do i think there was a world wide web at that time either, never mind the ability to ask questions online, but if i'm ever reincarnated i'll be sure to ask the question before i'm 13 just to keep you happy.
Its just a question i would like to see other people answer besides the three trained chimps that i work with.
Al....

Picking scabs can be a form of S.I.I (Self Inflicted Injury). Especially if the *picking* goes beyond just a nervous scratch, and, a person intentionally keeps the wound from healing in order to *pick* it again/worry over it.
Eating the scab - can be a form of *pica*. Pica is a disorder mostly due to a chemical imbalance. The person (usually a child - also happens in animals) feeds on substances that are not considered to have any nutritional value - or things not considered food stuff.
So pick, or pica or whatever...
hehehe
Me? Neither... :)
Now, if ya ask about boogers?
Remember the song,
"Gotch'a where I Wantch'a, now I'm gonna Eatch'a"!

Nope, I'm strictly a leaver not a picker. No matter how bad it itches you have to leave it. Must have been how I was brought up - being threatened with one of those plastic lampshade things they put on dogs if I ever touched a scab!

choosing is the worst element you may do. attempt some calomine lotion or baking soda to lessen itching. in case you heal with spots or scars from the scabs, then aloe vera gell will be useful. in the different case search for advice from a dermatologist. best of luck. (I had CP and that i comprehend it feels godawful.)
