Click Start > Control Panel.
In some versions of Windows you may need to click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2 Click Add or Remove Programs.
3 In the list of installed programs, click Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
4 Depending on what you see, click Remove, Change, or Add/Remove.
5 Depending on what you see, click Remove All or Remove.
6 Click Next and follow the instructions.
7 Click Restart Windows Now (recommended) when you are asked to do so.

uncertain approximately diverse language variations of the applying, yet i comprehend in case you install English Norton AV 2007 mutually as having English Norton AV 2005, it is going to ask you to uninstall the older version (or maybe grant to do it for you. How courteous of Symantec =P ). i'm exceptionally specific their antivirus courses are written off an analogous dlls, so which you won't be able to have the two engaged on an analogous time.

You best bet would be a clean install. I had to deal with this problem for somebody and it never worked out, especially going near the registry. The problem with Norton is that it acts itself like a virus completely taking control of the PC / windows / registry / etc. I was lucky with my laptop as I was able to uninstall it without a problem. If you have only just got your PC I would clean install it. My 2cents

I had the same problem. Go to control panel and remove it from the add & remove program. I think you have to remove a certain part before you remove the Norton Anti-Virus program.

Uninstall Norton via the Control Panel. Then download and run the Norton Removal Tool from http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2007080716270339?Open&docid=2005033108162039&nsf=tsgeninfo.nsf&view=docid But please at least then install a free antivirus http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-virus/us/frt/0 and free firewall http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp?dc=56pus&ctry=GB&lang=en&lid=staticcomp_za - that is one option.
However you can actually keep Norton Internet Securuty 2005 installed if you wish without it interfering with your e-mails, by reading the following advice: http://service1.symantec.com/support/nip.nsf/docid/2003020715374936?OpenDocument&src=hot&keywords=1&result=0
