When you are first starting out I think 1/4" is good. I believe that is a number 2 on the barbers razor guide list.

When people say not to short , I think they just don't want you to shave your head bald the first time out. Some people Don't have the right head shape for having really short hair.

Take it from a man in the military, a buzz is just long enough that it does not hert when you put on a helmet. a 1/2 on the side and a 1 on top is is good.

when it's bald... nosah.. jk

buzz one lenght all around: a # 2 blade is perfect. but start at #3 blade, and work down.. three is kinda long for a buzz cut.

buzz cut with a fade: #2 on sides and use #1 to blend. and scissors on top.. never let them buzz it on the top unless you doing a reall short fade

A buzz cut is really short like just longer than bald. If it longer than that, it isn't a buzz cut.
