use the disk that came with your pc. place the xp disk into the top cd/dvd rom drive reboot pc.... then a black screen should come on telling you to press any key to book from disk. then (CAREFULLY)follow the onscreen directions after the disk loads.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALLL THE DRIVERS BEFORE YOU DO THIS OTHERWISE YOU COULD BE SCREWED.

dont attempt this if your not sure i do not take responsibility for this.

Hope this helped.

You can't remove an operating system unless you format the hard drive. But for that, you need to have the hard drive hooked up to another computer as an auxillary. Format it then throw XP in there.

Hi there,
To wipe/format a harddrive use the XP CD itself and when it asks you where to install it, in drive C:? or if you want to modify the drive first, you do this, and then format it, then XP will make a clean install.
Hope this makes sense, as I can't fully remember the text when installing but its along these lines,

Julian

Please don't make a move until you locate all necessary CDs for reinstallation.

Formatting the HD is one of the easiest things to do, however, it erases everything on the hard drive. Recovering from format means reinstalling everything and copying back to the HD all files which, hopefully, you saved on external storage.

Personally, I would avoid format if at all possible and see if a Windows Repair wouldn't do the job. For what it's worth, here is information on repair.

If you just reinstall it, it will wipe out everything on your drive. No need to uninstall it.
