Fat is present in fat cells. You have the same number cells you had since birth. When you gain weight these cells get bigger, you don't get more fat cells. When you lose weight, they get smaller. Fat cells do not turn into muscle cells.

Fat is stored energy, think of it as "gasoline" for the engine of your body (for the picky, please recall no analogy is perfect).

Think of it like this. If you put in ten gallons of gasoline into your car daily and only drive two miles per day what happens? The gas tank will start to overflow and you have to store the gas somewhere. So you add an extra gas tank and keep adding tanks making your car bigger & bigger until you one of two things;
1.) You stop putting so much gas into your car on a daily basis (i.e. eat less).
2.) You start driving more (i.e. exercising or becoming more physically active).

Or a combination of #s 1 & 2.

Same with the fat on/in your body. The body stores the excess energy you take in as fat and when you start to use more energy than you eat stored fat disappears the body removes and burns it.

no it is broken down to carbon dioxide and water which is brethed out and expeled respectively
