Because Superstition itself is FAKE and is Illusion. People do not have pure faith on God go to Fake Babas, who do not know anything but attract people as they are Black Magicians, for their gain monetarily and for name. Followers of False or Freak or Fake Babas do not learn anything from them because the Babas themselves does not know anything good to part to others. Mostly such FFF Babas finally turn out to be like the notorious Premanada. Good people who have fallen pry to these FFF come to senses only after burning their fingers. Beware of them my boy.. -

Because no one will know truth until they connect with God within. As long as people are looking outside of themselves for the sacred they will only find superstition and the philosophy of the human ego. All religions incorporate the superstitions and cultural characteristics of their place and time. In that is the measure of how far from truth they have come. Religion is not truth, truth cannot be put into words. All words can do is point to the truth which is always found within.

Superstition is a kind of belief carried forward form our ancestral generations. It is in our blood. It is not that easy to get over from it. I know a Communist leader and atheist who believes that Cat coming in his way is a bad sign. That is real life... People go to Babas and fake swamies to get a kind of solace and mental courage. Who said they don't have faith in God. You cannot believe a Fakir, Sadhu, or a fake Baba unless you have faith in the God.

Superstition: My Grandfather ate a teaspoon of dirt every day and he lived to be 102. In the absence of any other evidence, I have decided that I shall eat dirt and live long. People decide what to believe based on a complex and scarcely-understood set of "feelings" in reaction to perceptions that either tend to support or to exacerbate some emotional need. The "proof" that you might see of the existence of God is no more and no less compelling than any "proof" of validity of any other system of belief. Swami-jis teach meditation. Babas teach philosophy. There can be "real" or "fake" in any domain of religion, spirituality and belief, including God-centered belief-systems. Real and fake are merely your own value judgements regarding beliefs.
It is more productive to ask yourself--rather than to ask others--why you believe what you believe. If you can answer your own questions honestly, you'll find all the answers you need.

Superstitions are instilled by our forefathers. Even fake babas lead us to God, provided we do not get cheated.

Because they are looking for something other than God. They want healing of the body or wealth or som kind of peace due to being fried with the material world. Do you know what a fake Guru is. The fact is if one is a cheater or wants something other than Love for God then God will send them to a fake guru. If one is very sincere God within the heart sends them to a real Guru or one who has seen The Absolute Truth (God, also known as Krishna, Allah,Jehovah, Vishnu, etc.) "From God we get guru, and from guru we get God." That is how it works. for info read Bhagavda Gita as it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada who is a bonafide spiritual master and pure devotee of The Lord named above. Here is your opportunity. This pure Gita tells us how not to be cheated by False Gurus and who is actually a bonafide representative of the Lord. Don't be cheated by false Gurus. Thanks for the intelligent question.

There are different kinds of men under different mixture of the modes of nature, and generally, they are not after liberation from this material stage. They want to gain something out of spiritual power. Just like somebody goes to a swami: "O Swamiji, can you give me a medicine? I am suffering from this disease." He thinks, "A doctor is very expensive. Let us go to a swami who can play miracles, and my disease will be cured." Yes. Sometimes we go and... Of course, in your country such swamis are not very easily found, but in India, there are so many so-called swamis. They go to innocent people and they preach that "If you can give me one ounce of gold, I can make it one hundred ounce of gold." Oh, people think those... Everyone seeks, "How many ounce of gold I have got in my home?" So all bring. "I have got some, ten ounce. So give me five hundred ounce." So in this way the swami collects all the gold of the village, and while performing the ceremony, he vanishes and... (laughter)
So this is our disease. When we go to a swami, when we go to a temple, when we go to church, our heart is full with material desires. We want some material profit out of... We practice yoga just to keep the health fit. That's all. That is... Well, for keeping your health, why do you take the shelter of yoga? Oh, you can keep your by ordinary exercise, by regulated diet and by following some health rules. There is no need of practicing yoga. But people are... Because kämais tais tair håta-jïänäù [Bg. 7.20]. That material desires, "I want to keep myself fit to enjoy life. Oh, let me take this yoga," or "Let me go to the church," "Let me have a swami as my spiritual master, order-supplier." So these things are going on all over the world.
