I have both fantasies with my girl. I dream constantly of her being with another girl while I watch or join in...recently I have enjoyed thinking of having another guy join in....It certainly helps that my girl is a sexual dynamo (heaven help me let the batteries never run out if I cant do anything...lol)
I think the jealousy thing is very real and could cause problems in any relationship so make sure you talk it through with your partner and set some boundries. Talk it through with him....

A lot of people have such fantasies, but you're right when you say that many wouldn't actually be able to handle it in reality.
Be very cautious if you decide to add a playmate to your sex life. Unless your relationship with your partner is completely secure and has no jealousy or insecurity issues, don't do it. However, if all is groovy then it's something to consider if interested...some couples find such experiences very positive.

I'm not into it, but I certainly know a lot of people are. If you're bisexual, it makes realizing these fantasies easier - thats if you even want to realize them. If its just something you think about while you're by yourself, then what's the harm of it? Everyone has weird little taboos that they like.
