OK, I want to Snowboard, and have some experience. My son wants to learn snowboarding. My wife and daughter have never skiied, and want to learn tradational style. We are going to have lessons before we go. We plan to take a week (out of school tut tut) possibly in Februrary , and this rules out USA/ Canada cos of the travel time. We also want to have options to do other non-skiing stuff should the mood take us, as to be honest the Wife and daughter are not that keen really.

So given the above, where would you recommend?

I have been to Andorra and am worried it might lack snow again. I fancy Grenada/ Spain, but have heard nothing of the snow quality or risk of having no Snow, or of the quality of the infrastructure.

All comments welcome.

Sounds like you're in Europe, which opens up a lot of possibilities. Some of the main resorts which are great are Chamonix, Zermatt, Kitzbuel, and St. Moritz. You can't go wrong at those resorts. Zermatt would probably be the most boring in regards of non-ski things to do since it is rather remote. Cortina in the Dolomites is a great resort and Klonplatz is a short drive away. For a hidden gem, you may want to try Livigno. St. Moritz and Bormio are short drives away and the snowfall and mountains surrounding Livigno are fantastic for a beginner. Milan is also a driveable distance from Livigno.

Switzerland is definitely a good option, but if you don't mind indoor skiing then go to Dubai for sure. Lots of good shopping and other activities to do there and the indoor skiing is actually surprisingly good. But if you do prefer the real thing your best bet would have to be anywhere in the Alps really.

I was going to say that it depends on your financial situation, but that doesn't seem to be a problem for you. I've only been to the Poconos.......Jack Frost, Camelback, Montague....(not sure if I spelled the last one correctly; it's been a while.)
