My periods were always painful and irregular, but I was put on birth control to regulate them when I was a teenager and that helped with the pain a little as well. In the spring of 2006 I had been off the pill for a couple of years and my pain was getting worse and worse until finally I was taken from work by ambulance because of severe abdominal pain. The next couple of months were were all about tests, tests and tests. The pain was unbearable at times, it would radiate to my lower back and I would get physically sick. My doctors guess was endometriosis. - In November 2006 I had a laparoscopy (surgery) and they found a lot more lesions than they had expected to find. They also found that my uterus was angled the wrong way so they fixed that. I was under for almost five hours. It turned out to be a major surgery and the recovery sucked.
It is a possibility that you have endometriosis.. If your periods are irregular and pain radiating to your back. The pain doesn't have to be just when you have your period. If your periods were always regular before this, then maybe not.
You could always try WebMd.com and the symptom checker, it works pretty good:

Hope I was a help, sorry if I wasn't.

I had something similar and I am still having pains. My pains are coming from my lower left area. I bleed too for no reason, etc. Was your partner a virgin before you? if not, he may have passed something on to you. My doctor thought I had endometriosis and had laproscopic surgery but everything looked normal. I had the IUD inserted months ago instead of taking birth control pills and it worked because the pains and bleeding went away but now it's back.
Ask your doctor about the pain you have in your back. That could be something with your kidneys. Could be an infection in your kidneys. I had that too. The doc put me on some meds and the back pain went away. .If you are new to the pill, it could all be just a reaction to the high dose of hormones.
Good luck!

Sounds really alot like a bladder infection. There is pain in the pelvic area AND the back area. Your doctor needs to give you some antibiotics for this. See your doctor before you take any medications over the counter just incase you might be pregnant. It could be a miscarriage as well. I'm not a Dr. but I know my daughter felt the same way when she miscarried. See your Dr. soon. Very soon.

It could be fibroid tumors. Not a really big deal. Those can be take care of easily enough. It could also be your ovaries or a kidney infection. Get to the doctor. I am sure you are not pregnant, but ask about another type of pregnancy. Sometimes the fertilized egg with develop where it isn't supposed to causing a lot of pain. It could be a number of things. Sorry I couldn't help more. Isn't it just wonderful being a woman at these times?

The Health section would've been better because there are some medical folks that post there. Definitely get to your doctor asap, there could be a few different things that could be causing your symptoms.
Have you visited WebMD and looked at their symptom checker? That might be something else you could do, to give you an idea of what you might be dealing with.

I am no doctor, but it seems like your egg might be in your fallopian tubes. I know of some cases, where the woman's egg didn't make it to the uterus and attach itself to the tube wall instead. The body still goes through the cycle, but the egg is someplace else. The only way your are going to know is to go to a doctor. I hope this helps.

sounds an awful lot like preg anyway. sometimes it just doesn't show up on the test. glad ur going to the doc. a blood test is more accurate and he can feel your uterus and tell if there's something in there.
If the pain is closer to the side (but still somewhat in the middle), you could have ovarian cysts--usually not serious, but awfully painful until they burst.
good luck

you could have a cyst on your ovary. Quite common, alot of women get them every month and dont even know about them, they just drain when they have a period. However, every once in a while they don't drain and get bigger causing abdominal discomfort and back pain. They can eventually burst causing terrible pain but its unlikey that it will come to that. There is a good chance it will drain itself eventually but you're doing the right thing by going to the docs.

You need to go to a doctor. You need to have a pelvic exam and a bloodtest. We are not doctors on here, but from what yo are saying you are having some serious problems. Don't hide this from your mother, just tell her you need to see an OBGYN for a pap smear, which you should get since you are having sex.

Going to the doctor's office is the best idea. There could be many reasons your period was not regular - meds, stress, activity level etc. MY best advise is to wait what the doctor says - I know it may not be easy, but there is nothing you can do until then. Best of luck!
