what are usually the signs of overdosing on prescription pills (8-9 pills when it only says take one every day)? what are the affects within 6 hours?

It depends on the medication, so you would have to read the insert that came with the medication. If you took 8 or 9 pills of something you should only take daily, and are feeling ill, please go to the ER. If you refuse to go to the ER at least call your doctor. Please don't mess around with this, you could cause damage to your body.

We need to know first the specific kind of pills involved. We cannot just give a generalized effects of overdosing as every pill contains different active ingredients. Take for example the Diphenhydramine: 1 tablet has to be taken before bedtime for sleep disorders.Taking 9 tablets of it is considered taking high dosages of 225 mg which is usually done to achieve recreational effects of getting "high". Other side effects would include visual and auditory hallucinations, mental confusion, amnesia, irregular urination, dry mouth, speeded heart beats, etc.

This will vary greatly depending on what medication you are speaking of.
General signs of overdose (this may or may not happen...this is broad) are: slowed/trouble breathing, nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, coma and death.
If you are on a medication that is prescribed at one per day and 8 to 9 pills have been taken, I would HIGHLY suggest seeking medical care IMMEDIATELY.
Within six hours (depending on the medication), you may not be alive (brutal but honest).
