My friend told me that they had this, but the doctors could only get rid of it with an operation but it would be dangerous so he isn't doing it - is this information correct?

Calcification of pancrease is common. It occurs after some acute disease and some chronic .Eg. Tuberculosis...it will resolve slowly , should done immunoactive drugs, daily vitamine complex. But check glucose, amylase level every month if it is disturbed.Better do MRI once to see exact location.don't worry ..14 year old can live and enjoy his/her life till his/her grand child becomes the age of 14.Be happy.good luck.
