This comes from a commentary on a Bible verse and I'm going to leave the verse out because I want to hear in your own words what this means to you in your daily Christian walk. I love to read your answers as each of us sees the world thru different eyes and it enlightens me so often to hear what others think so thank you ahead of time.

Many people can look like a christian from what they say or sound very educated with big christian words. And just talk, while never doing a thing with their knowledge of God.

I can tell anyone how to live the life, a christian should live all day long. I can go to church for each service. I can give all i want in the offering. I can be 'good' in everything. But what I do when it is just me and God is what makes me what i am. What I do when no one is watching is who I really am. Not who I claim to be, that's useless. Kinda like in politics, they can say they will do this and that and all that sounds good and well, but what do they really do? In the christian Walk, it is the real self that will matter. Did we keep the extra change we got by mistake or turn it back in. Did we curse under our breath at the car that cut us off on the highway? Do we see the hurt and needy as Christ does, or do we tune them out?

what it means to me is that you actually put into practice your beliefs rather than just talk a good game. i always loved the saying they talk the talk but don't walk the walk because i think we are all guilty of that - at one time or another.

i think what makes people different tho is the awareness of that. also in the bible : those who are chosen to hear. some people really think they are chosen and really want to be chosen but they are so busy focusing on being chosen that the missed the whole point and didn't hear anything.

i work with someone - actually 2 someones who profess their religiosity which they feel equates to Christianity constantly. they are true "cross wavers." however, i find them to be the most judgemental and condescending people in the workplace. Cruel and harsh are they in their judgement as well. In my opinion judgement is when you insinuate that you can do someone elses life better as opposed to opinion on a set of circumstances. These 2 hide behind their assumed Christianity to do harm to others and they talk the talk but are disabled and cannot even begin to crawl. Based on observation not judgement.

Not only do we need to profess our love of God with our tongues, but we also need to do so with our actions. Non-believers look to us to see how we handle circumstance, tragedy and trials. When the Devil Sifts us as Wheat will we respond like Judas did, betraying Jesus and than committing suicide. Or will we respond like Simon Peter, betraying Jesus, turning our backs on him in trouble and than falling to our knees in repentance and worship. Although being saved is a private thing, being a Christian is a very public one. During those times in our lives when the unsaved and lost would usually crumble, turning to alcohol, drugs, and suicide. The saved will look triumphant, handling moments of adversity with grace and dignity. When we loss a job, when our marriages are failing, during the death of a spouse or a child, during financial troubles, work troubles, or any other crisis. The true Christian will glorify the Lord God through not only their words but their actions. Is it not normal to feel anger and other human emotions during these times? You bet it is. It's what we choose to do with these emotions. It's what we choose to do with the hand that we are literally dealt. That is what is meant by walking the walk not just talking the talk.

The Bible says, we are saved not because of good works but by the grace of God. for further information read Ephisians 2:8-10.

To me it means, mere talking would not help . walking (action.. say praying and doing good deeds) towards the lord would get us to heaven.
