My boyfriend and I are coming back from Iraq and want to go on a get a way in Feb 2008. We both want to go where it's not much of a hot spot, nice beaches, and some kind of culture.

We went to St. Vincent and the Grenadines this past summer, you can rent a sail boat and even rent a live in crew (we didn't have to my fiance's dad is a licensed captain) and just sail from island to island. The beaches are gorgeous and the snorkeling is fantastic. Also the culture was just so different. We sailed for a week and it was the best vacation I'd ever had. There weren't crowded beaches and being on a boat by ourselves we got to spend time together and not be herded here and there like you would on a cruise. If you're looking for something where you can have alone time on the beaches and not be surrounded by millions of other tourists I suggest you look into it. It brought my fiance and I much closer, it was truly fantastic. Also at night we could sit out on the bow of the boat (we rented at 48 ft. catamaran) and look at the stars which out there are amazing, we saw the Southern Cross for the first time and the milky way was just gorgeous.

Try Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Tropical setting but not what I'd consider a "hot spot". Very tranquil.

I simply got here again from Aruba the day before today and the shorelines have been quality and really blank. I stayed on the Radisson... Love It.. The prettiest inn at the Island is the RUI subsequent door to the Radisson.
