It is difficult because too many people have abused their privilege, once they get here they don't go back to their own country, the UK is full of unwanted illegal immigrants from all over the world, so you have them to thank for your difficulty in obtaining a visa.

What type of visa are you trying to get? If it's a regular tourist visa, you shouldn't have much of a problem as long as you have all of the required documentation.
My husband and I went a couple years ago and it wasn't really difficult for us...

It all depends where you are coming from if it is place without a record of visitors to the UK abusing visas then it is not usually a problem,Tourism is a big earner illegal immigrants are not.

It is better if you use a reputable tour operator and they will fix up the visa for you.It is assumed that being with a group you will be returning home as planned,and also that it is a much easier way of tracing you.
