For me it's British Airlines. If by some miracle you leave on time (they have the worst on time percentage of any major airline. 44%) then you get stuck waiting for a gate at Heathrow because they can't seem to figure out that a plane needs a gate to arrive to. Then you have to navigate the maze of construction (that will never end) to change flights.

On top of that you have about a 40-30% chance that your luggage will be lost.

I could understand it (maybe) if they were a discount airline. But they charge top dollar for bottom dollar service.

Without a doubt PIA (Pakistan International Airways).

On one flight I took there was no door on the cockpit and I could see the co-pilot flick a switch on the control panel. The pilot yelled at him, punched him and then flicked the switch back again. It didn't inspire confidence.

On another we took off in Lahore, flew for 2.5 hours and then landed back in Lahore. They didnt tell us we were landing back at our start point, only when we looked out the window and noticed it all looked very familiar. No explanation or apology. They just put us on another plane and took off again.

Air Canada has got to be the worst in customer service. Two written complaints to the airline resulted in a "blow it out your shorts" letters back from them. Their customer reps at the arrivals gate have yet to get my connecting gate correct at Toronto. The straw that borke the camel's back was my last business flights the planes were all late and dirty and the cabin was in bad repair, however the capper was no one said that they were sorry for the state of the plane. They did however say sorry for having to sit at the gate in Ottawa whilst they rounded up another ramp rat to marshal the AC to the gate, LATE!

Air Transat was running a close second to Air Canada but they've upgraded their equipment and they weren't too bad.

Martinair. All the other airlines I used (Delta, Iberia, British Midlands, Air Canada, and Air Canada Jazz) were more than satisfactory.

Heathrow is pure hell in my opinion. The buildings I've been inside were falling apart from wear and tear, which gate you get depends on availability, pure and simple, and at times too many planes want to leave at the same time, which causes even more delay.

United Airlines, or North west Airlines. I have flown with 15 + airlines, found both of these airlines to have rude crew members, lower grade food, and have lost my luggage more than twice with united airlines!

I agree BA is really bad! I hate Heathrow. My last trip to NYC and back to AMS was terrible. My flight was delayed, the announcement of the gate was too late and my luggage got lost. It's been 1,5 month and I am still busy trying to recover my lost because the bagage claim dept. is hard to reach and they do not respond to my queries.

Agree with above - they are mostly all crappy. America is bad for me. On the contrary - Southwest is pretty good at being on time, but their people are fashion and alcohol police.

"Sorry sir, we saw you buy 3 drinks at the bar while waiting for the flight - you can't fly w/ us today."

WTF!?

edit:
This seems pretty trivial to some of the nightmares noted above.

Jet Star in Australia charged me an outrageous amount for one extra bag and the employees were rude to boot. Only people I met in Australia who were rude.
