I went through this! Some things that helped us:
1. Relaxation routine before bed. Sometimes I would wake him up and make him do it again.
2. Seemed to be worse if he had a bad day or much to drink with dinner.
3. A mouthpiece that was made to fit by a good dentist. The over the counter ones and the first one (made by a not so good dentist) were uncomfortable and he spit them out.
4. Sleeping on the couch!
I totally sympathize. We did, eventually, get the problem solved. After about six months of the mouthpiece, he seemed to get over it!
I have also heard that acupuncture helps some people. You may want to give that a try.

He needs to find a good mouth guard. I was wearing my teeth down with the grinding so I bought a mouth guard that you heat in boiling water and then molded it to the form of my teeth and it works great. Good luck!

First, the poor guy probably has a lot of stress in his life.
As for you, take Ambion or another good sleep pill if you want a good night of sleep.
You should apprechiate the fact that your man probably has a really stressfull job to bring home the money you spend. Cut him some slack.

there are several guards out there you need to find one that works for him. it is not good for him to grind either so its not just a matter of lost sleep on your part.

Was it an OTC guard? Have him get one professionally made by your dentist... they're moe comfortable and he'll be less inclined to toss it.......if it's made for the lower teeth he'll hardly even notice it's there..........
If he absolutely refuses, you could always threaten him with acupuncture........LOL........ that's how one of my patients dealt with her husband, and it worked.
Best of luck~
