You need to direct these questions at the vet who diagnosed the murmur!
No one knows what the prognosis for your cat is. Murmurs come in varying severities, they're diagnosed from Grade 1-5, depending on what system is used. We don't know what severity of murmur your cat has, how long the murmur has been present for (he could have been born with it) or even how old your cat is. And there are no vets on here.
Go back to your vet. A decent vet will have talked you through exactly what a heart murmur IS, and how it can be dealt with in your cat's case. Often the treatment is directed at what caused the murmur, or the secondary problems as a result of the murmur. Please talk this through with your vet.

My cat has a heart murmur too and so do I. I do okay and the cat gets by. He's recently had hyperthyroidism and seizures but the vet says it is unrelated to the murmur. Just keep an eye on him. I get light headed when my heart just takes a while to do its thing and cats can sometimes have the tendency to faint if it is a major murmur but I wouldn't worry about it. He can certainly live a long and happy life with no effects from it. If your vet didn't take action, don't worry.

There are a large number of different types of murmurs. Some are dangerous, some don't mean anything (Heck,I have a murmur too, it's ok). Two of mine had murmurs one year, then two years later the murmur was gone. They vary considerably.
You'd have to ask the vet what type of murmur it was and if it was somethng to worry about.

it is more than likely a functional murmur caused by the anemia. once the anemia is treated the murmur should go away.

No real problem on a day to day basis. Should he need to go in for surgery then just bring it to their attention although they should have it recorded on his file!
He'll be fine. We had a cat with a heart murmer who lived to the great age of 17!
