Donna,
You are completely correct. We should all just give up our ability to think for ourselves and become Baptists even against the specific advice of Thomas Jefferson, one of the Founding Fathers.
There is a problem with your suggestion, however;
which approved group of neurosurgeons do we select to do the multitude of frontal lobotomies necessary for the successful application of your suggestion.
I know that I would need one, for sure. Actually, anyone used to thinking for themselves would need a lobotomy. There is the expense involved since most doctors like German automobiles and live in high end housing. Have you considered the recovery time and expense of the newly qualified, fully lobotomized Baptist converts? What about jobs, for which the new believers would no longer be qualified, jobs that require…thinking?
Oh! I didn't read the "Landover" thingy. I hd to edit my response to: lololololol

Don't kid yourself. If everyone on Earth joined just one Christian denomination, it would immmediately schism so that the crazier wing had someone to hate.
Of course, the Southern Baptist conference has a big crazy wing, so it wouldn't be a fair fight.
(And you identify yourself as an ironist/troll by the use of the word "Church," which a member of the Conference would know was incorrect.)

I think that's why the lads in $700 worth of clothing knock on my door each week. They're missionaries from Morrison Heights Baptist Corporation, who have set up a compound along Interstate 20 in Mississippi and are vowing "Freehold will be ours".

No it wouldn't. I'd much rather cut off my own face with a plastic spoon than join any church which places more emphasis on its rules than relationship with Jesus. Try offering a beer to a southern baptist and watch them try to cast the demon out of you.

I agree, I used to be a Southern Baptist, but wouldn't it be easier if we all just joined an Assembly Of God Church ?
I agree though, if we just picked mine, then we could move on in peace, love and harmony,
Now this was not to mock you, just to let you know that those of other denominations will feel the same.
As to why we have different denominations ?
The reason there are different denominations within Christianity is because the Bible allows for us to have differences of opinions. Within Christianity there are very few essential doctrines that define what it means to be a Christian. These essential doctrines are,
Jesus is both God and man (John 1:1,14; 8:24; Col. 2:9; 1 John 4:1-4).
Jesus rose from the dead physically (John 2:19-21; 1 Cor. 15:14).
Salvation is by grace through faith (Rom. 5:1; Eph. 2:8-9; Gal. 3:1-2; 5:1-4).
The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (1 Cor. 15:1-4; Gal. 1:8-9).
There is only one God (Exodus 20:3; Isaiah 43:10; 44:6,8)
God exists as a Trinity of persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (See Trinity)
Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary (nature of incarnation)
As long as a church believes in these essential doctrines, then it is Christian.

This question is not only offensive, it's obsurd. It's like telling the world: "If you just listen to me, then the world would be fine."
The Southern Baptist, or any other Baptist, are not Biblical.

no, southern baptist is also a denomination. Why not all agree on the Bible? There is a denomination called non-denomination, which people ARE joining, and they are agreeing.
In the end, the only body that matters will be the members in the Body of Christ, which Jesus is the head of...
