Real butter.
Apparently, our body's digest it better. That is what our ancestors ate years ago..our bodies are accustomed to it. Margarine is just processed stuff.

I think real butter is better for you than margarine. I saw a show on tv that put margarine and real butter on the tops of 2 cars in the hot sunshine and the margarine never even melted. They were showing that it would do the same thing in your arteries. Ever since I saw that I have only eaten real butter. Plus it has no hydrogenated oils added to it. And it tastes better--just remember not to eat much of it.

Most margarines aren't better for you, but butter is certainly a high cholesterol food. I've found Smart Balance to be a good (sometimes) substitute. I buy the organic so there are no chemicals. It melts and tastes at least more like butter than any others I've tried who make that claim. I would only use butter for baking, special meals (like lobster or king crab legs), company or holiday cooking. Nothing compares to the flavor of butter, but it certainly doesn't hurt to compromise a bit to keep it healthier most of the time... or even more of the time. My family used to go through a LOT of butter back when. I'm glad I pay attention to what I eat now, and keep it much healthier.

In moderation, either is fine. Both have positives & negatives. Butter is full of cholesterol & saturated fats. Margarine has so many chemicals that reading the label will make you gag. I use butter for certain things & margarine for others.

I have always heard that butter is the best. Margarine is processed so it's going to have some of those icky things in it that are bodies do not need. And as usual--just use butter in moderation and you should be just fine.

Real butter. Most margarines if not all have some sort of vegetable oil/cooking grease in it.

no butter, no margarine. But if you really want margarine use Olivina, butter- use butter spray. In other cases use cooking spray (Olive oil).

margarine may be less fatty and possibly better for your choloestral and therefore seem healthier, but my personal belief is that it is so full of chemicals and unatural substances that you are better with some as natural as butter. i hope this answer will help you choose your favorite x
