I can think of 2 options: First - find a plumber in your area that's hiring an apprentice, and be willing to start from the ground up. That might mean you spend the first weekend just cleaning out his truck and washing it. But it's a job.

Second - investigate the local community college, and see if there's a construction trades or technology program. You'll learn a whole lot more than just plumbing, unless they have a specific program for that. That's OK - you can become a whole lot more versatile that way. Most schools have some sort of financial aid available, but you have to check with them at their financial aid office for the details. Which means you may have student loans to pay when you get out, but that's usually just part of college life.

The hard part may be finding a plumbing fraternity to join, though...

I found 112 schools by doing a search just for plumbing. The only thing is that I did not know what was available in your area as you did not put a state. Try this website and it will show you all the schools in your area that have the program and all the information in regards to the schools that offer it.

As far as your question goes...not sure if you needed to know the schools in your area or assistance in financing it. For one it really depends on the school...as some schools don't offer student loans and/or grants.

If you are looking for fedreal grants, state grants...and student loans...then you will need to fill out a fafsa (free application for federal student aid) and add the school federal code so they can tell you what you will potentially qualify for.

The school admissions department will need to be contacted so they can coordinate with you to complete all the forms you need to begin the process.

Good luck in reaching your goals!
