"Where the rippling waters go, cast a stone, the truth to know.
When you have and hold a need, harken not to other's greed.
With a fool no seasons spend, or be counted as his friend.
Merry meet and merry part, bright the cheeks and warm the heart.
Mind the Threefold Law you should, three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow, wear the blue star on your brow.
True in love you must ever be, lest their love be false to thee.
These words the Wiccan Rede fulfll: An it harm none, do what you will."
-Wiccan Rede (in part)

That's the copyrighted poem Rede of the Wiccae, by the way, not The Wiccan Rede. There is a difference.

Nearly every action you do has the potential for harm when viewed from another direction. Wiccans are obligated to take full responsibility and act with knowledge of that fact.

No one has the right to hurt others.

That doesn't stop people from doing it though, free spirit or not. Hurting and being hurt is part of life. It's one of the faster ways to learn.

I don't feel obligated to keep people cocooned in a protective layer of bubble wrap. Life contains no guarantee against pain.

Obviously, since atheists consider themselves to be "free spirits", and atheists have no compunction at all against posting the most vile and abusive of statements here, being a "free spirit" can go hand in hand with harming others.

No. No one has the right to harm another. When you harm another....you only wind up harming yourself anyway in the long run.

If, by "free spirit", you mean "free will", then no. Free will gives us the choice to harm, but not the right.

It doesn't give us the right to hurt anyone; it does however give us the freedom to choose whether to hurt someone or not. Weigh up the pros & cons etc etc
