With such a dominating performance by Gordon this year, if anyone else wins the Chase would they be truley thought of as the season champion. The point that I'm making is that the season championship should be already decided because of the dominating performance that Gordon has had this year. If anyone but Gordon wins, they will not be a true season champion....that is why the point system is not working.

(even my friends that don't like Gordon believe he should win the championship this season)

No it shouldn't be in question, but unfortutnately it is. Jeff has had by far the most dominating season out of all of the drivers. He lost a 300+ points lead at the beginning of the chase, and has already built up a 68 point lead after only five races. It would be a shame if he go caught up in a bunch of crap that was out of his control over these last five races and didn't win the championship.

The chase is a narrow way of getting a champion.Though this way is not the best it is the best at this time.
It seems that NASCAR has the same 12 to 15 teams in mind to be in the chase and when a dark horse gets in NASCAR gets nervious as if they will lose money if anyone but the chosen 12 to 15 teams win.
Until a better way of choosing a champion comes about(like racing a full season and the driver with the most points win) we will have to endure this dog and pony show NASCAR calls the chase.

Gordon has had an amazing season and should win the title this year. NASCAR has to do something for the points leader after 26 races. In every other sport the number one team is rewarded with a bye or home field advantage. I think the Point leader should be allowed one mulligan or given a 75 point lead starting the chase. You cant take all that he has earned away. Drive for 5 baby.

What are you talking about Papabill. That's the way they did it since the beginning up until three years ago.

The chase is fine. If you don't make the chase then there is not possible way that you would have won at the end of the year anyway. The chase makes it more exciting and a closer competition.

Even though I'm a Gordon fan I don't think he has had THAT dominating of a season. I mean he's tied for the most wins and that's with him winning the last two races. That doesn't seem like domination to me.

I agree. I am a Gordon fan and he has put together a hell of a season so far.

Blaine- he is tied for most Wins, has the most top 5's, the most top 10's and the most poles(even though that doesnt count) and a daughter...hell of a year.

Drive for 5

Yes he's had a great season, but a couple of DNF's due to wrecks or engine failure, pass thru's for speeding on pit road, a couple of bad pit stops, anything can happen. It ain't over till its over, and even then there'll be a lot of trash talkin'
