True believers who wish to put all their faith in the Bible are faced with three problems: (1) How can one know which books are "inspired" and should be part of the scriptural canon? (2) How can one know which one — if any — of the existing contradictory manuscripts (MSS) of a given book preserves the "true" wording? (3) Assuming that one has the correct manuscript (MS) of a given book, how can one know what the particular Greek, Hebrew, or Aramaic words mean? As we shall see, there is no way these questions can be answered with absolute certainty. At best, believers must trust to the probabilities — not certainties — that arise from a scientific investigation of the facts surrounding the biblical texts and traditions. Believers will have to face the fact that there is no way at all to know which Bible to believe — let alone what to believe in it. Believers still have to put their "faith" in other human beings.

I live in an English speaking country (well for now)

My God is smart enough to master English

The KJV is the only English bible we had for about 400 yrs

SO either God didn't want his pure word out then (which i know is false) or the KJV is perfect.

God is big enough to keep his word. You big enough to accept it?

Its true that the orignal manuscipts were lost and people had to recourse to the copies of them made by the Greeks. So thats already one tranlation down.

They were then retranslated into other languages, such as Hebrew, English, Latin, etc. In some caeses they were even retranslted from the Hebrew into English. Not to mention the reliance on the memories and mitivations of the original writers.

Finnaly you have the spin added by later churches, some of which has been acutally rproved, eg comparing earlier sources to later examples.

So if you want to waste your time arguing over the interpretations of particular words as some seem to delight in, then thats your free choice, but what a waste of time.

On the other hand, the basic messages are there for all to see. One you really understand Genesis, the Gospels, and Revelations, then you have all you really need.

1 What God did
2 What his Son had to do and why
3 The bottom line

Thus you mimise the risk of being confused by contradictions in places that are less significant. The rest is basically just history, often boring.

Where in the world did you come up with some thing like that? First of faith isn't your religion it what you believe. second God will tell us what we need to believe. The Holy bible is complete. Thirdly the bible is broken down to 66 books. You have the old testament which is before Jesus came. The new Testament which about when Jesus came and his teachings. so to say there is contradictions in the Bible is false. The fact is that there some many trying to make the bible look false to justify their own wrong doings. I can certainly answer that I know what God wants us to do and that read his word and pray to him and do as it says to do in the bible. These problems you came up with are ignorant and shameful. The books were written in Hebrew and later on translated to other languages also it like this. some words in the English language don't exist in other languages so they translate to the best possible word to replace the word that isn't in their language but means the same thing. There is only one true bible and that's it. so many religions are design to deter any one from knowing the truth. God will tells what we need and nothing more. He wont give us a answer to every at one moment when we want it some times we need to wait and some times the answer is no. You must listen not always ask. God gave us ears to listen with also. so you must decide what you believe and God will tell you if you are wrong. I know what the bible says to be true because i seen it. Faith is what you believe. not what church you go to. People need to stop confusing religion with faith. to separate things.

If we don't have the original biblical documents, but only possess copies (that have copyist errors), then how can we argue that the original documents were without error?

We don't need to have the original documents in order to demonstrate their inerrancy any more than a prosecutor needs a body to prove a crime has been committed. Inferences can be drawn from the evidence at hand, and a reasonable conclusion can be argued from biblical principles.

First of all, the copies definitely have errors in them, but whether or not they have errors does not necessitate that the originals did. We don't need to have the original documents in order to demonstrate their inerrancy anymore than a prosecutor needs a body to prove a crime has been committed.
Second, the Scriptures are said to be God-breathed, i.e., inspired. Second Timothy 3:16 says, "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness." The word "inspired" is 'theopneustos', God-breathed. This means that Scripture comes from God. Jesus said in Luke 24:44-45, "These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." 45 Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures." Notice At the Scriptures are referred to as the entire Old Testament. Furthermore, Jesus said in John 10:35, “If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken)."

We see that Jesus speak for the entire Old Testament, to which John the apostle refers to Scripture. Then we see that Jesus said the Scripture cannot be broken. This means that it cannot fail. From this we can easily conclude that the position of Jesus is that the Scriptures, the written form, cannot fail, cannot be broken. Logically, this means that they are without error.

Third, Jesus did not deal with the issue of copyist errors. He simply stated that God's word cannot be broken. Likewise, we should take the same stance.

Fourth, Jesus did not possess the original writings, yet he said that they could not be broken and contain error.

Fifth, the New Testament is likewise considered Scripture by the Christian Church. Therefore, it falls under the purview of all Scripture being inspired of God.

All the books were inspired, KJV. The reason the other books that are not included in KJV are because they could not agree with the other scriptures. Meaning they were written my man, and not inspired by God. As for the meaning of the Hebrew and Greek that is easy go to www.powerbible.com and download the free version, and you will see what those words meant in those days in that language.

i'm attempting to recover from my dislike of Christianity, because of the fact i be attentive to this is incorrect. I grew up in a Baptist church, I attended for 17 years. i became into way into it, very non secular. I constantly had difficulty reconciling my non secular ideals with my thought of equality. various the Bible is amazingly down on women human beings, and slaves. as quickly as I moved faraway from residing house and faraway from the innovations washing of my church, I rejected Christianity outright. I met individuals with differing ideals, and found out that Christianity became into not greater useful than the different concept. i'm an atheist now. i'm nevertheless rather bitter with regard to the intolerance of my previous church (no longer basically sexism). It nevertheless hues my concept of Christians, even however i be attentive to they're are no longer each and all the comparable. confident, I differentiate between radical and reasonable Christianity (or any radical non secular dogma) . i think of having non secular ideals are great, as long as your doctrine helps equality for anyone. i could probable come off as hateful in the direction of Christianity, however even however i do no longer mean to.
